DEER NUTRITION BASICS

Nutrition supports
deer through the seasons.

Deer nutritional needs vary with season, age, and activity. University of Missouri Extension describes how adequate nutrition supports body maintenance, growth, reproduction, and antler development.

THE RESEARCH BEHIND THE FEED

Nutrition matters.
Processing matters, too.

Adequate nutrition supports deer body maintenance, growth, reproduction, and antler development. [1]

What roasting research tells us

Separately, dairy-cattle research shows that properly heat-processing soybeans can increase the protein that bypasses the rumen. [2]

These findings do not establish specific deer-growth or antler gains from roasted soybeans or Redjacket equipment.

Wisconsin Extension's dairy guidance addresses heating, steeping, cooling, and storage. Digital temperature control alone does not establish a processing result.

BEFORE YOU GET STARTED

Let's find your fit.

What does the research say about roasted soybeans?

Soybeans provide protein and fat. Dairy-cattle research shows that proper heat processing can increase the share of soybean protein that bypasses the rumen. This evidence does not establish specific deer-growth or antler gains from roasted soybeans or Redjacket equipment. Read the dairy research guidance [2] ↗

Which roaster should I consider?

The Model 540 is one option in Redjacket's equipment range. Tell Redjacket how much grain you use and what you want to roast so you can discuss the right model for your operation.

A family history that goes back 3 Generations...

“My grandfather, LeRoy Clark, originally designed a roasting auger for his row-crop and hog operation in the early 1970’s. He raised corn and soybeans and was able to feed his farm-raised and roasted grains to his hogs to lower his feeding costs and add value to his row-crops. LeRoy’s son, Fred Clark, further improved the design and built his own roaster in 1998 to produce roasted soybeans for his family’s poultry operation...”
